A small portrait of the wife and child of the painter Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-97). They sit in a park under a tree, the little girl at her mother’s knee, cuddling a small fluffy lamb. In 1773 Wright had married Ann Swift, who died, aged 41, on 17th August 1790. A copy of a portion of a print by Valentine Green, the boy being omitted.
