A portrait of Marco Benefial born in Rome in 1684. Among his works, in the Palazzo Spada there is a saloon entirely painted by him, which is considered one of the finest productions of his time. He also painted cartoons for a great fresco work of the dome of the cathedral at Viterbo. He died in 1764.
From a collection of 324 portraits printed with the revolutionary method of Dagoty- Le Blon based on Newton's Theory of Colours, one of the first books ever printed in Italy with this technique. The copper plates are inked with blue, red and yellow giving the impression of watercolour. A monumental and beautiful work.
