A particularly fine and early collection of Piranesis Vedute di Roma. This collection of his etchings comes from a set purchased from Piranesi in Rome in 1761. The latest of his etchings present here is Hind 60, the Pantheon dating from 1761. All of the 36 etchings are on uncut sheets that have been stitched down the left hand side, they are printed on thick Roman laid paper and as they are uncut have wide margins. The collection was obviously carefully selected including all the sought after images, there are no interior views and, unusually, neither of the title pages are present. Included are a number of early and first states, including an early state of The Ripa Grande with the barge (Hind 27) and a number of Bouchard and Gravier imprints.
