These small, delightful illustrations were included as frontipieces to the five volumes of the third edition of Cassandra: A Romance in Five Parts. Written originally in French and Faithfully Translated into English by Sir Charles Cotterell. La Calprenède’s Cassandre was first published in 1642-5 and the first edition of Cotterell’s translation appeared in 1667. Paulson 58-62.
