A half length portrait of Sir George Vandeput (1729-84), enclosed in a stonework frame. He is directed to the right, smiling to the front, and extending his left hand through the frame. On the left is a brocade curtain. He succeeded his father as second baronet in 1748, and the following year was involved, as the Whig candidate, in a remarkable electoral contest with Lord Trentham (afterwards Marquis of Stafford) for the representation of Westminster, which eventually Trentham won by a majority of 157 votes.
